“I lost confidence in my role and contemplated quitting. I didn’t recognise myself for about 12 months.” (Wendy, Australia)

Whilst the general concepts of stress are broadly accepted these days as an ever-present part of modern life, it’s not until we experience it ourselves, that we realise that as Newton’s Third Law promotes, ‘for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction’. Many of us find out about this the hard way, as one of the MyMT™ Affiliate Practitioners, Wendy Gordon from Australia, did too.

Working as a Paramedic and in a senior management role with the Australian Ambulance service, Wendy didn’t think about the accumulative impact of stress on her physical and mental health as she moved into her 50s.

Now trained as a MyMT™ Affiliate Practitioner, she brings her incredible expertise and experience to you. I hope you can read her powerful story below and if you live in Australia, or the Melbourne area, then Wendy’s details are below too.

Dr Wendy Sweet (PhD)/ My Menopause Transformation.

“When I turned 50 I thought I had dodged the challenges of peri-menopause. Not one hot flush. I had always been on the chubby side, and my cholesterol was on the rise but I wasn’t too concerned.

But I was exhausted.

I worked 6 x 10-hour day shifts, and was on call overnight as a paramedic as I managed multiple branches. At the time I was a single mum of 3 and I also ran my Complementary Medicine Clinic part time after completing 5 years of intense study.

I thought my restless sleep was an acceptable side effect of years of shift work. Basically, I stayed so busy that I didn’t recognise peri-menopause and I suppressed any health issues by being stoic.

It was when I was promoted into a senior management role in Ambulance and relocated within the region that I recognised I had profound fatigue. I was isolating myself and I started to have suicidal thoughts regularly.

I lost confidence in my role and contemplated quitting without any consideration of the financial consequences. I didn’t recognise myself for about 12 months.

I made an appointment at a women’s health clinic and left with a script for antidepressants, I didn’t tell anyone and felt alone and ashamed. After taking the medication, against everything I valued about natural medicine I threw them in the bin after 4 weeks feeling worse than ever.

My son recognised I was unwell and moved the girls and I in with him. This was when I started to be honest with myself and others about how I felt. I also started to research what was happening to me as the medical profession wanted to label it mental-health, but I knew there was more to it.

I am a Registered Naturopath, Nutritionist, Herbalist, Meditation Facilitator, practicing Advanced Life Support Paramedic a former Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience. Yet I didn’t know how to help myself through this difficult stage of my life. None of my training talked about this.

I found Dr Wendy Sweet’s (PhD) MyMT™ programme on Facebook and read everything I could find from her.  I felt relieved and hopeful that I could possibly work my way back to health with solutions that aligned with my beliefs and values.

I joined the programme and worked on one change at a time and listed what I wanted my future to look like – daily walks, a whole food diet, restful, refreshing sleep, renewed confidence, no calorie counting, acceptance of myself and so much more. One by one I implemented the layers from the MyMT™ Transform Me programme. With Wendy’s help, my mental and physical health improved dramatically over time.

When Wendy advertised her inaugural Menopause Practitioner Course, I was genuinely elated because one of my goals was to help other women like me, and this was the perfect opportunity to continue learning from Wendy with a programme that I had so much belief in.

At the end of the course, as a result of my improved health and confidence in myself, I decided I wanted to focus on women approaching their menopause transition. I decided to develop a virtual women’s health clinic and become a MyMT™ Affiliate Coach.

My business, Your Health Naturally was created 10 years ago. I now offer the Wise Woman & Menopause Programme in combination with MyMT™ Circuit Breaker and Transform me programmes. The programme also includes personal one-to-one consultations with me, as well as a private Facebook community,  access to live sessions with guest speakers and so much more.

Please get in touch if you would like to talk about the best option for you. Your Health Naturally can also be found on Facebook and Instagram.”
