Cairns and Mackay – It’s time for your Masterclass on Menopause! November 18 & 19. Book your $25 tickets today.

When I think of Cairns, I think of Kaye. And I’m thinking of Cairns and Mackay, because I’m heading there in November to see all of you lovely Australian ladies who are able to come to my live-event called, ‘Your Masterclass on Menopause”.

Tickets are $25 and can be booked HERE.

Whilst I know I won’t be catching up with Kaye, because I discovered that she re-located to New Zealand, I will think of her when I’m in Cairns. Kaye was one of the first women to trust me with my menopause symptom reduction and weight loss programme. I still have her original email which she wrote in despair,

“I feel exhausted. I’ve recently moved into a new apartment as well as started a new job and my stress levels have been through the roof. I have been going to work with as little as 3-4 hours sleep some days. I’m housekeeping in a hotel so my job is very physical. And then I walk 35 minutes home afterward in the heat. I don’t like being 51! My weight is going UP not down. I cry a lot!”

This cry of despair arrived with this photo she took of herself at the time whilst at work … [I love the half-made bed in the background!]. You can see that her belly-fat was creeping up and her weight had shifted towards her diaphragm and breasts. When this happens, it’s tough when you have to bend over to make a lot of beds in your day, whilst working in hotel housekeeping.

Cairns and Mackay are in Queensland, Australia. It’s heading for summer over there and it will be my privilege to talk to women about how to beat the heat with their hot flushes, get sleeping all night and how to sort out their energy, anxiety and weight during or after their menopause transition. Even if you are in post-menopause, then please come along as well. All of the information is based on my women’s healthy ageing studies.

From peri-menopause to post-menopause, women the world over find that this is the time in their lives when they become confused and frustrated with not sleeping, changing health, sore joints and endless hot flushes. For many, their usual routines for weight management no longer work either. But as I discovered myself, nobody is joining the dots with our changing hormonal environment in menopause and how our lifestyle impacts on this.

My fascination with the link between menopause and healthy ageing began when peri-menopause came raging along when I was 50. It took me by surprise. And when I heard from my PhD participants that they had similar issues, I realised that women in their 50’s are forgotten when it comes to understanding what to do to turn around menopause symptoms, including weight gain without resorting to expensive, short-acting supplements and HRT.

That’s when I decided to look into it. Menopause is the gateway to our biological ageing and in many cultures around the world, there is not the same symptoms chaos that women in many western countries, including the UK and New Zealand, are experiencing. I was curious to know why this was. And I found that by looking at menopause through the lens of our biological ageing, I was able to put into place powerful strategies that enabled me to change my energy levels, get my healing sleep back, wittle off 15kg and restore hormonal harmony in my aching joints and muscles. All without the emphasis on vigorous exercise and dieting which I tried, but which made my symptoms worse.

This is what this seminar is about. I hope you can join me.

Oh, and as for Kaye? She came onto 12 week the My Menopause Transformation weight loss programme and I will let her end her story …

“The last time I weighed myself I’d lost over 10 kgs. That was a few weeks ago now
..I don’t own any scales just go by how my clothes fit
or not! Before MyMT, I was advised to have less than 1200 calories a day
..walking for an hour a day (not sleeping) and l didn’t lose any weight. I thought I was never going to be able to get rid of those awful hips! I was feeling quite depressed and spent a lot of time in tears which I was putting down to menopause! Thank heavens I’m feeling much better now.

I’m sleeping much better too and manage 7-8 hours most nights. My energy has returned and my moods are so much better. Anyway just wanted to let you know all that. I can’t thank you and your programme enough.”

And how do I know she moved to New Zealand a year later? Because this arrived in an email from her only a couple of months ago. I love how Kaye who was from Cairns, now has her life back on track.

Dr Wendy Sweet, PhD
