Become a Certified Menopause Coach

Becoming a Certified Menopause Coach or Practitioner requires specialised, evidence-based training focused specifically on menopause physiology, lifestyle science, and women’s healthy ageing. If you are a Doctor or Pharmacist, then hormonal treatment prescritpion may also fall within your Scope of Practice. For those of you who are not Doctors, there are still powerful, evidence-based lifestyle solutions you can use with your clients.

While menopause coaching is not legally regulated in many countries, credible training follows a professional pathway that prioritises:

Step-By-Step Pathway to Menopause Coach Certification

Start With an Appropriate Foundation in Health, Wellness, or Exercise

Our Menopause Practitioners have already undertaken a health or exercise related qualification such as Nutritionist, Naturopath & Alternative Medicine, Nurse, Doctor, Physiotherapist, Personal Trainer, Therapist, Health Coach or Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner.

Ensure the Training is Evidence-Based and the Instructor is Qualified

High-quality menopause education is grounded in current research, clinical guidelines, behavioural research and lifestyle medicine principles rather than generic coaching models that are not tailored to midlife women. Make sure you check the course is certified by professional bodies and check the course instructor’s qualifications and experience. For example, Dr Wendy Sweet (PhD) completed her PhD in lifestyle interventions for menopause symptoms and healthy ageing, and has coached 20,000 women through her programs.

Complete Specialised Menopause-Specific Training

Choose a course that focuses not only on menopause science, but women’s healthy ageing science too. The course should look at integrative health, and not look at each symptom in isolation. The course should include content on hormonal changes, the changing female physiology, life-course science, inflammation, metabolic health, lifestyle medicine and of course behaviour change and risk screening that is specific to menopause clients.

Achieve Formal Menopause Practitioner Certification

On completion, you should receive a recognised menopause practitioner or menopause coach certification confirming specialist education in this field. Ensure the certification has been recognised by professional bodies for it's rigour, accurateness and quality.

Understand Professional Scope of Practice

Ethical menopause coaching includes knowing when to risk screen, educate, support, and refer to medical professionals, ensuring client safety and professional integrity.

Commit to Ongoing Professional Development

Menopause research evolves rapidly, making continued education essential for best-practice menopause support.

Frequently Asked Questions About Menopause Coach Certification

Menopause coaching is not legally regulated in many countries, but professional training and certification is strongly recommended. With MyMT™, you need to be appropriately qualified to work with clients in a health or exercise related capacity, and have relevant insurance in place.

Not necessarily – because Health and Exercise Professionals can still help women with lifestyle sciencec solutions. For these courses you do need an appropriate professional background. For the MyMT™ Menopause Practitioner Course, you must meet entry requirements such as being a qualified health professional (e.g., nurse, dietitian, physiotherapist, psychologist, personal trainer, etc.) or a fully qualified/accredited health coach (and you may be asked to discuss prior learning if you don’t have a strong underlying knowledge of physiology/endocrinology). You also need professional membership and appropriate insurance.

Start with the free 90 minute Masterclass on Menopause, where Wendy helps you understand the important connections between lifestyle science, menopause symptoms, and weight gain.

Then, choose your course. With an introductory 3-week course, a comprehensive 12 week course, or specific courses on weight gain and joint pain, there is something for everyone.

MyMT™ currently has three CPD certified courses for Health Professionals.

The Introduction to the Science of Menopause (Menopause Health Coach) Course is our introductory-level course, the Menopause Lifestyle Practitioner Course is our most comprehensive course for Practitioners looking to specialise and the Menopause Weight Loss Coach solely focuses on the complexities of midlife weight loss (including exercise prescription).

We also have a short course titled Menopause & Joint Health Coach Series, because joint pain is such a predominant issue for midlife women.

Graduates receive formal certification (and, depending on the course, a certificate and badge recognised by CPD/CEU bodies). Each course is certified by multiple organisations. Please check the relevant course page for a list of the organisations.
