When new research papers arrive in my inbox every week, my family often hear me say, “Wow! Why aren’t women being told these things by health professionals?”
It is a statement I repeat far too often, and have done ever since the interviews I undertook with women as part of my PhD studies into Women’s Health and Ageing.
I travelled the length of New Zealand interviewing women. Despite them not knowing each other, the themes were clear. Many were scared about the health trajectory they were on, and were afraid of the health conditions they had seen their mother’s generation experience. But, not one of them mentioned menopause.
