The Journey of Burcu was not only professional, but personal! Despite all her knowledge as a Health Coach and ‘eating clean’, she too became confused about her symptoms and weight gain. It’s a similar story to my own – so thank you Burcu, for sharing it with us.
“I’ve learned so much from this course especially about inflammation. I had been experiencing many perimenopausal symptoms, and deep down, I knew I was becoming insulin resistant. I was gaining weight and couldn’t lose even a gram, despite eating clean, exercising regularly, and taking care of myself. Still, my doctors kept telling me that my lab results were “just fine”—but I wasn’t feeling fine.
I was dealing with joint and muscle aches, waking up tired, feeling unwell, experiencing vaginal dryness, low libido, and an overall loss of joy.
It felt like my inner spark had completely faded within just 6–7 months. I was also diagnosed with vaginal vestibulitis and had it surgically removed. My doctor said it was due to inflammation, yet my CRP levels were very low, which also left me feeling confused.
Listening to Wendy on her Practitioner training course, everything clicked into place! I finally understood how inflammation was happening in my body, and that it was the root cause of most of my symptoms.
So I made lifestyle changes to better suit the stage of life I was in. I made the nutritional changes that Wendy recommends and increased my intake of dark leafy greens. At 55 kg, I ensured I was getting adequate protein, but not over-doing it, and eliminated protein powders and focused on whole food sources instead.
I also increased my intake of citrus fruits, changed my exercise routine, and added more extra virgin olive oil. I also began taking a high-quality omega-3 supplement.
Within 2–3 months, my joint pain significantly decreased. I was able to walk outdoors for an hour each day without feeling exhausted afterward. I returned to resistance training three times a week without any muscle or joint pain. My sleep improved dramatically. Now I go to bed between 10:00 and 10:30 p.m. and wake up refreshed around 7:00–7:30 a.m.
Psychologically, I feel so much better.
I’ve lost 1.5 kg of body fat, and my friends keep telling me I’m glowing in a completely new way. Even my doctor was surprised by how energetic I looked. When I shared that my symptoms had improved significantly, she simply told me: “Keep doing whatever you’re doing.”
